Project IV : The Dark Side of K-pop
For my final Apollo project, I decided to research and dive into the behind the scenes of one my biggest interests: K-pop. I decided to focus on the "dark-side" of K-pop, the things that people may not know or recognize. I created two products to show the thinking skill synthesis. I created a visual essay and a digital drawing for my products.
English
For my English product, I chose to create a visual essay. I used iMovie to compile various pictures, videos of interviews, live performances, music videos, as well as narration. The video includes information about life as a K-pop trainee and what happens after debut. These topics include dating, dieting, beauty standards, expectations, etc. I used information I gathered from multiple sources to make something new.

Art
For my Art product, I created a digital piece. I borrowed styles from Junji Ito and Ai Natori to demonstrate synthesis. The color palette was inspired by Ai Natori. The creepy, unsettling details were inspired by Junji Ito. I wanted to show the the emotions that K-pop trainees and idols go through but have to hide due to the expectation of keeping a smile on their faces.
